Appellant Charles Avant was convicted by a jury of burglary, a class C felony, and theft, a class D felony. Ind. Code ร§ร§ 35-43-2-1, 35-43-4-2 (Burns 1985 Repl.). The trial court sentenced him to eight years for the burglary conviction and four years for theft. The jury also found that Avant was an habitual offender, and the court enhanced the burglary sentence by 30 years.
